Google’s ambitious dive into the world of electric transportation has hit an unexpected obstacle…or rather, a hill.

The San Francisco Municipal Transit Authority (SFMTA) adopted a resolution in 2018 convert its bus fleet to 100% electric by 2035. The resolution requires the SFMTA to begin purchasing 100% battery electric buses (BEB) starting in 2025. The first ten battery electric buses entered revenue service .
The SFMTA Sustainability and Climate Action Program explain that the agency’s biggest goal is an all-electric fleet and a carbon-neutral San Francisco by 2040.
