Each presenter or presenter team “Weekend Update” throughout Saturday Night Live the story had different bits that became a fan favorite and became their signature skit.
For Colin Jost And Michael Chetheir flagship element is their annual joke exchangein which they each write jokes for the other to tell, and the person telling the joke doesn’t see it in advance.
Without exception, both hosts used it to write deeply offensive jokes that will make the other look bad because they have to deliver them on air, unprepared.
This year, Che took the opportunity to have Jost make fun of his own wife, Scarlett Johanssonand the palpable discomfort for Jost was comedy gold.
“ChatGPT released a new voice assistant feature inspired by Scarlett Johansson’s AI character in Her” said a nervous Jost. “Which I never bothered to watch, because without this body, what’s the point of listening?
Later, in the same joke exchange, Colin wrote a joke for Che that practically pushed Che into the ongoing feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake.
“Speaking of bitches, I want to call out the biggest bitch of them all, Kendrick Lamar,” Che said, almost balking at the joke as he read it for the first time. “Your war with Drake may be over, but your war with Michael Che has only just begun. So to quote Hamilton, ‘Shoot your shot, player'”
