Democratic Rep. Debbie Dingell said she was more afraid during the recent pro-Palestinian protest at the Capitol than during the Jan. 6 protests and Capitol riots.
On Wednesday evening, hundreds of protesters descended on the south end of Capitol Hill, where the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee is located. The demonstration quickly turned violent and the police took out shields and other equipment.

Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) said she was “more shaken” by an anti-Israel protest outside a Democratic National Committee building on Wednesday than by the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.
Dingell was prevented from leaving by two exits blocked by protesters Wednesday evening, and at one of them he encountered a police officer who was receiving medical treatment after being pepper-sprayed.
The congresswoman told the Detroit News that the episode “shook me more than January 6.”
“I was scared,” Dingell said. “Someone is going to get hurt from one of these things. They can get out of control.
Capitol Police: Demonstration ‘was not peaceful’
During the 2021 Capitol Hill protests that turned into riots, many members of Congress expressed concern for their safety. Notably the socialist representative from New York, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who said she feared for her life during the incident.
But Dingell says the most recent protest was even worse.
Mediate continued: “The three highest-ranking Democrats in the House of Representatives, Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), Minority Whip Katherine Clark (D-MA), and Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar (Democrat-CA) were all also present. the DNC building at the time.
The report added: “At least six police officers were injured by protesters outside the building, and the Capitol Police issued a statement insisting that the protest “was not peaceful” and “did not obey our lawful orders to leave the DNC, where members of Congress were located.”
The usually quiet DNC headquarters has been making headlines since alleged attempted bombing from the building during the Capitol protest – for which the FBI still doesn’t have a single suspect.

Dingell told the House during a motion to censure Tlaib: “I spent the entire weekend in Michigan talking to all communities about the meaning of that phrase and there are very strong feelings from all the sides. People interpret words in different ways.

The House voted to censure Tlaib 234-188. Fox News reported“The punishment, although largely symbolic, was an official public reprimand of his most recent anti-Israeli comments made following the war waged by the Jewish nation against the terrorist group Hamas.
“Twenty-two Democrats voted with 212 Republicans to censure Tlaib. Four Republican lawmakers voted against the measure,” Fox News added.
