What is your spiritual age? For a long time I thought I was secretly 27…
But now I feel like I’m 40. My twin sister Lucy and I will be 45 this week, but that number seems slightly higher than I feel? My quarantine felt pretty revolutionary – I love it parenting preteens (even with the hiccups!), and I really want myself.
Curious, I asked some of my friends in their forties how old they were feel:
“16!” The freedom of being able to drive and the responsibility of driving my younger brothers were both extremely educational. In a way, I still feel like a big sister driving a minivan, giving everyone a lecture on why I love the Indigo Girls. —Izzy
“I alternate between feeling like I’m 30, like I’m still thinking about my life, and feeling like I’m 60, like I just want to make the most of what I have left. My real age is between those. -Rob
“I definitely think 1999 was five years ago, but I’m also an old soul – I love string quartets and cozy murder mysteries.” -Anne
“I have 52!” For real, I’m looking at the post-menopausal prize, when I’ll never have a period again. — Elizabeth
“I like my current age – 43 – because my children still need me but can manage a little. I have independence but I am really a mother. It’s a good pocket. — Liz
“21 years old, I want to speak French to everyone I see. » — Ziva
