A proud tradition of Kos daily elections arrives once again! Yes, once again, our friends of the exceptional Green Bakery are generously sponsoring the annual Kos Daily Election Prediction Competition, with babka (and other treats) for the winners!
If you want the chance to win babka and glory, click here to submit your answers. To participate, you must have a Daily Kos account in good standing created no later than November 2. You will also need to provide your email address so we can contact you if you win. The deadline to submit forecasts is Tuesday, November 7 at 5 p.m. ET, one hour before the first polls close. You can participate as many times as you want, but only your final prediction received before the deadline will count.
Our quiz has two parts, plus a tiebreaker:
• Part 1, nine questions. Choose who you think will win each race. We test your predictive power in these contests taking place Tuesday: Kentucky governor; Governor of Mississippi; Supreme Court of Pennsylvania; Aurora, mayor of Colorado; the mayor of Manchester, New Hampshire; County Executive of Suffolk, New York; Allegheny County, Pennsylvania District Attorney; Board of Commissioners of Bucks County, Pennsylvania; and Ohio Issue 1. Each correct answer is worth 1 point.
• Part 2, two questions. This year, the entire Virginia State Senate is in session. We’re asking you to predict how many of the House’s 40 seats will elect a Democrat on Tuesday (Democrats currently hold 22 seats). If you guess the correct number exactly, you get 6 points. If you are behind by one point in either direction you get 5 points, 4 points if you are behind by two, and so on (no negative points).
This year, the entire Virginia House of Delegates is Also up. We also ask you to predict how many of the House’s 100 seats will elect a Democrat on Tuesday (Democrats currently hold 48 seats). Again, if you guess the number exactly right, you get 6 points. If you’re behind by one point in either direction, you get 5 points, 4 points if you’re behind by two, and so on (and again, no negative points).
• Tiebreaker: Guess the percentage each of the two leading candidates (Sheila Jackson Lee and John Whitmire) will receive in the first round of the officially nonpartisan municipal election in Houston, Texas. Also guess the percentage that all other candidates will receive, combined. (If no candidate obtains a majority, a runoff will take place on December 9 between the top two obtaining the votes.)
Need a little help before submitting your predictions? Check out our hour-by-hour guide to election night where we review all of Tuesday’s notable races, including all the elections we ask about in our contest.
Again, click here to submit your answers. Feel free to share your guesses in the comments (although only answers submitted via the form will count). Winners will be notified once all election results are final. There may therefore be some delay before we can contact you while each issue is resolved.
And thank you once again to Green vegetablesour sponsor!
