Kody Brown is really adorable, you guys.
He is so caring and considerate and he truly puts other people’s feelings before his own.
We’re joking.
As evidenced by this Sunday’s brand new episode of Sister Wives.
“I’m ready to pretend to be in love with Meri. Doing my duties as a husband. I kind of put up with things that frustrate me so deeply that I have a hard time being around her,” Kody says in a preview posted online by Us Weekly.
He adds in this sequence:
“Whether I need it for anything, I don’t know.” I can pretend.
How nice of this guy, right?!?
To be clear, this next episode was filmed about a year ago.
On January 10, Kody and Meri confirmed they had ended their wedding.
They did this after years of being single, as we learned previously. the couple hadn’t slept together in a decade because Kody divorced Meri in 2014 so he could marry Robyn Brown instead.
This led to a lot of tension between the ex-spouses…and also led to Meri becoming embroiled in a catfishing scandal after trying to hook up with someone she met on the internet.
“Meri had an affair. She was leaving my ass. She made everyone understand that she was leaving. She was done with us. She can’t admit it right now,” Kody said during the Sister Wives Season 16 one-on-one special.
Quoting the catfish, Kody claimed the family “circled the wagons” to “protect her when she realized she had been tricked,” adding:
“She was deceived. She found something better. She was leaving me for a better, richer man.
Meri took an extreme exception to this description of events…and she tried for a very long time to stay in her marriage for the sake of her family.
On the November 19 episode of Sister Wives, Meri says in her own confessional that she thinks Kody ended their relationship years ago.
“Why is he saying he’s ready to continue playing when he clearly hasn’t done so in eight or 10 years?” she asks in the clip, filmed in fall 2022.
“Besides, I wouldn’t want him to do that.” I wanted to heal our relationship and even create a new relationship, but I never insisted on it.
Oddly enough, Kody then breaks up with Meri WITH ROBYN ALSO IN THE ROOM.
“This is the deal you asked me to get married,” Kody says, looking Robyn in the eye and talking about his broken union with Meri.
“That agreement I gave you, our sacred covenant, was that if I’m ever not in love with you, I won’t sit there and be in a pathetic place with you.”
Robyn is then the person who starts crying.
“It’s not fair to any of us. It’s not fair for me to be alone like I was for years. It’s not fair for him to feel like he has to do a duty,” Meri tells Robyn in the preview of her current dynamic with Kody, before admitting “that’s not what I want.”
And yet… we hope Meri now realizes that it really is for the best.
Kody, for his part, concludes by this overview telling the women, “That’s not what I wanted either.” »
