A driver who drove over the edge of an East Coast pier seemed determined to end his life, and possibly that of anyone else in his path… as evidenced in this video here.
TMZ obtained footage from Saturday morning that shows the moment an unidentified vehicle speeds through the opening of the Virginia Beach Fishing Pier — where it was traveling at a high rate of speed and with what appears to be the intention of continuing toward the END.
As local media reported, that’s exactly what happened: this driver crashed his car on the other side of the pier and went straight into the water.
But check out this new video we have now… you can see the car almost hit someone who was walking along the entrance to the pier around 6:49 a.m. ET, and they look shocked.

Of course, the car kept moving – and a video of the moment it ended up plunging over the ledge has circulated online. It’s strange – you see the car move somewhat before finally crashing and falling into the ocean below – with no word on the condition of whoever was inside. The car sank to the bottom and rescue/recovery efforts were unsuccessful…at this point the driver and all other occupants are presumed dead.
Police said they were trying to recover the vehicle that left the fishing pier on 14th Street in Virginia Beach’s oceanfront. However, due to water conditions, recovery was delayed. https://t.co/jY2hyRmGRu pic.twitter.com/RIeC79VBue

We also got footage of the immediate aftermath of this tragedy – and the damage this car caused is abundantly clear… with police tape spread all along the pier and cops standing by as first responders were trying to remove the car itself. emerged from the depths of the sea.
Great efforts were made to recover the vehicle with heavy equipment on Sunday, but weather conditions delayed the endeavor…and it’s not officially known when they’ll try again. Few details about the driver or his motivations are known at this time.
