After skipping an entire year, Apple plans to completely refresh its iPad lineup in 2024.
It depends Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who shared his thoughts on Apple’s next “big thing” on Sunday. Gurman notes that Apple has not released a new iPad during 2023, which has never happened in the history of the iPad. And even though there are still two months left in the year, Gurman thinks the new iPads won’t arrive until 2024.
“Apple could have tried to launch more new products, but the revamped iPad and AirPods aren’t ready yet. The company plans to update its entire iPad lineup in 2024,” he wrote . It doesn’t specify models, but “the entire lineup” would mean the iPad mini, iPad, iPad Air and iPad Pro. All of these products were last updated in 2022, except for the iPad mini, which was updated in 2021.
Notably, just a few weeks ago, Gurman believed that we were, in fact, get new iPads late this year.
In his new report, Gurman also states that new AirPods will also arrive in 2024, while the new AirPods Pro won’t launch until 2025.
The report also mentions the expected M3 Ultra chip. Apple recently launched a trio of new chips: the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max, but the company is expected to complement all that with an ultra-powerful M3 Ultra (doh). However, according to Gurman, this chip “has not yet been extensively tested.”
As for new Macs coming in the near future, the report states that the new Mac Studio is in development and the new 13- and 15-inch MacBook Air, as well as the Mac mini, will arrive in 2024.
