The 2024 presidential election is less than a year away and could confront voters with a rematch of the 2020 presidential election, which I saw the voters select between Donald Trump And Joe Biden.
While Biden won the 2020 election, recent election polls have shown Trump ahead. Here’s a look at the latest national weekly poll of voters.
What happened: President Biden is the favorite to win the Democratic Party nomination in the 2024 elections.
Former President Donald Trump is currently the favorite to win the Republican nomination for president. In the latest weekly poll, Trump holds a 50 points ahead Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, marking one of his biggest leads since polling began in December.
The weekly Morning Consult poll asked registered voters who they would select in a hypothetical matchup between Trump and Biden.
In this week survey, Biden received 43% of the vote, ahead of Trump who received 42% of the vote. The remaining voters chose Someone Else (11%) and Don’t Know (5%).
This is a significant gain for Biden, who received just 41% of the vote in 2017. the previous survey. Trump lost two percentage points from the previous poll, when he received 44% of the vote and a three-point lead.
By party, 84% of Democrats chose Biden and 86% of Republicans chose Trump for the hypothetical 2024 poll, marking a one-point gain and one-point loss, respectively.
Leading independent voters, who could decide the election, chose their 2024 choice as follows, with last week’s results in parentheses:
Biden: 33% (31%)
Asset: 37% (37%)
Someone else: 20% (22%)
I don’t know : 11% (10%)
The poll also finds that 86% of voters who also voted for Trump in the 2020 election support him again, a drop of three percentage points from the previous poll. Eighty-three percent of 2020 Biden voters also support him again, a gain of one percentage point from the previous poll.

Why it’s important: Biden is back at the top of the poll of nationally registered voters, after trailing Trump for three straight weeks.
Over the past 10 weeks, Biden has been tied with Trump four times, ahead of the former president three times and behind the former president three times.
Before the last 10 weeks, Biden had posted a lead of one to two percentage points in almost every poll dating back to the start of polling in December.
Biden takes the lead again as Trump’s civil fraud trial in New York state continues and the former president and several of his older children are on the witness stand.
Biden has recently seen his approval ratings reach record highs since taking office.
The 2024 presidential election will take place on November 5.
