Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena today undertook an inspection of flood-affected areas in the district and assessed the damage due to rains. Relief activities are in full swing in the Antoniyarpuram area, which has been among the worst affected.
A bridge near Antoniyarpuram on the Thoothukudi-Palayamgottai national highway was destroyed during extreme rains on December 17 and 18 that triggered floods, while the Eral and Attur bridges on the Thoothukudi-Tiruchendur highway were also damaged. been seriously damaged.
Restoration work is also underway in Srivaikuntam, Attur, Eral, Agaram and Kayalpattinam areas which are still flooded.
