Meghan McCain says she’s tired of her name constantly being brought up View by former co-hosts.
“The thing about View “I didn’t know when I signed my contract with ABC that it was forever, that for the rest of my life I would be bullied and yelled at and abused and bullied for years,” McCain, 39, said on the Wednesday, December 27 episode of the show “Please” podcast. “I haven’t been on this show in years. And I’m just trying to live my life.
McCain, who was co-host of the ABC talk show from 2017 to 2021, added that she “didn’t know” when she signed up to join View that she “would have to deal with these old fools who were always yelling at me.”
“I go for periods of time without thinking about it – months without thinking about the show or anything,” she continued. “And apparently I’m on their minds every day. And it’s pathetic.
McCain’s remarks referenced a recent episode of View in which she previously claimed to be co-host Ana Navarro makes a reference to his political family. (Meghan is the daughter of the late Senator John McCain.)
During the December 14 broadcast, Navarro, 51, Joy Béhar, Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny accommodation, Sarah Haines And Alyssa Farah Griffin discussed President Joe BidenHunter’s son Hunter’s decision not to comply with a subpoena to testify at a private hearing about his foreign businesses. (Hunter has previously said he preferred a public appearance in court.)
“Look, did Hunter Biden influence his last name? Yes he did. Half of Washington too,” Navarro said. “The people sitting at this table did it!” »
After the panel looked at each other to determine who she was referring to, Navarro later clarified that she didn’t mean at the table “currently.” Although Navarro didn’t mention any names, Meghan assumed she was referring to her.
“I don’t understand why my former colleagues @TheView @ABC talk and slander me almost every week,” she wrote via X (formerly Twitter). “It’s been years – move on, I’ve done it.”
Meghan noted that she had “never been accused of a crime” in her life and was an “American patriot.” She added that she had never “peddled influence” in her life, “much less with foreign adversaries.”
“Not all children of politicians are the same — and I’m not Hunter Biden,” she wrote. “All the accusations are absurd, defamatory and insulting. I will consult my lawyers regarding what has been defamed against me on View This morning.”
In another response, she added that as a “former employee of ABC News,” she does not “take it lightly” when she is accused of engaging in “criminal behavior.”
Elsewhere on Wednesday’s podcast episode, McCain claimed that while she disagreed with the host Michel Malicethe theory that View is “malicious” at its core, the show is a “disorganized place” with people who aren’t “that smart.”
She added that hosts get to choose from “hot topics” in the evening and they “receive news articles that you walk to talk about the next day.” She noted that “whatever the majority chooses, that’s what the show is about.”
“So obviously anything that makes Democrats look bad is never chosen,” she said. “I had to go in there every morning thinking, ‘Hey, whatever story is making Biden look bad is the number one story of the day,’ and there would be a fight over whether or not he should to be aired because the hosts disagreed on it. And it was still a daily battle. And there were some stories that they just didn’t want to cover because it made people look bad. It’s under ABC News and I don’t think it’s completely ethical.
McCain has often aired his grievances about the show since his departure. In October 2021, she claimed ViewIt is “Toxic work environment” This is the reason she left the program.
“My point of view on the problems of View it’s that it’s a show with a lot of demons that started at the beginning, and none of those demons have been exorcised,” she told Variety at the time.
