Jonathan Majors threatened suicide during a September 2022 text exchange with his then-girlfriend Grace Jabbariaccording to new evidence from his ongoing assault trial.
Several text messages and an audio recording, all dating from September 2022, were made public by the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office after being presented in court last week, according to Variety. In a text message, Majors, 34, wrote: “I’m probably going to (kill) myself sick.” It’s not really contemplation anymore… I’m a monster. A horrible man. Not capable of loving. I’m committing suicide soon. I’ve already put things in motion.
The threat of self-harm came after Majors claimed Jabbari, 30, didn’t show him love that morning.
“I gave you love last night and this morning before I got out of bed. When you got up you weren’t full of love at all, I didn’t feel it at all. You could just give me a hug or walk near me or ask if you could give me a hug, not the other way around. It works both ways,” Majors wrote.
Jabbari responded by begging the majors not to hurt each other.
“Jonathan, you can’t say that. I’m going to have to call someone,” she wrote before apologizing “for not hugging you this morning” and reminding Majors that he has a daughter, Ella, 9. .
The majors’ trial began late last month after several delays. The actor was arrested in March for allegedly assaulting a woman later identified as Jabbari. Three days later, he was arrested and charged with assault and harassment. Majors denied the allegations at the time and pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
In another message shared in court last week, Majors apparently dissuaded Jabbari from seeking medical attention after she suffered a head injury.
“I’m afraid you have no idea what could happen if you go to the hospital,” Majors wrote. “They’ll ask you questions and since I don’t think you’re actually protecting us, it could lead to an investigation even if you lie and they suspect something.”
Jabbari replied: “I’ll tell the doctor I hit my head, if I go I’ll give it another day, but I can’t sleep and I need stronger painkillers . That’s all. Why would I want to tell them what really happened when it’s clear I want to be with you.
In addition to the text messages, an audio clip of an argument between Majors and Jabbari was released. In the clip, Majors told Jabbari that she “has to have a certain mindset” to be his partner, like Coretta Scott King was for Martin Luther King Jr. and michelle obama is for the former president Barack Obama.
“I’m a great man. A great man. I’m doing great things, not just for myself, but for my culture and the world,” Majors continued. “That’s actually the position I’m in.” It’s real. I’m not being mean about it. I didn’t ask for it. I worked, and this is the situation. The woman who supports me… has to be a great woman and make sacrifices like the man does for her and for them ultimately.
Majors filed her own domestic violence complaint against Jabbari in June, claiming she was the aggressor during the March altercation. Jabbarri has been arrested in October for assault and criminal mischief, but prosecutors dropped all charges against her soon after.
