Where is Kate Middleton?
This is the question that all concerned fans of the royal family ask themselves again and again. As the days turn into weeks and months, very little is said about Kate’s condition after her surprise “abdominal surgery.”
Although the palace has hinted it will not release any information unless necessary, fears grow with each new development.
Prince William is canceling events, no one has seen the kids and it even appears Kate has contacted Meghan Markle to make amends.
So what’s up? And really, where is Kate Middleton?!
Kate’s disappearance – followed by Prince Williams
On the morning of February 27, Prince William canceled an appearance at a memorial for his late godfather, King Constantine II of Greece, citing a “personal matter” for the last-minute change in his schedule.
This triggered panic and confusion all over the world.
Because anything a member of the royal family does or says is likely to create an uproar?
Yes, partially.
But perhaps more importantly, his wife Kate Middleton underwent abdominal surgery on January 16. Many observers were curious and concerned that her husband canceled this appearance because something had gone wrong in his recovery.
Kensington Palace stepped in to allay those concerns in a message that seemed comforting at the time.
Where is Kate Middleton?
Simply put, “The Princess of Wales, who is recovering from abdominal surgery, continues to do well,” the palace said in a statement.
The post was dropped about a month after Middleton was released from a two-week hospital stay following the aforementioned procedure.
At the time, the palace shared that Kate had “returned home to Windsor to continue his convalescence after an operation. She is making good progress.
They also explained that the princess would likely not return to her royal duties until Easter at the end of March.
We were never informed of the medical condition that prompted this surgery, but we guess even Kate Middleton deserves a little privacy, you know?
Kate Middleton’s rep goes out of her way to torpedo conspiracy theories
Despite assurances from the palace, all the chatter about Kate Middleton and her condition refuses to go away.
Some rumors began to circulate that she was in a coma; other reports have sparked cruel speculation about eating disorders.
In an attempt to once again allay concerns about Kate and put to rest any sort of conspiracy theories about what’s going on, a spokesperson for Princess Kate said on February 29:
“We were very clear from the start that the Princess of Wales would be away until after Easter and that Kensington Palace would only provide updates when something was important.”

A source close to Middleton spoke to People Review and did verifies that there is a “serious” nature to this operation, but also adds:
“She is in good hands and will benefit from lots of care and support at home and she is a fit young lady. I’m sure she’ll bounce back.
Prince William, meanwhile, had planned to reduce his own role within his famous family to help his wife recover… but then King Charles was diagnosed with cancer.
As a result, royal correspondent Sharon Carpenter told E! News from February 6:
“We expect to see Prince William, if necessary, obviously intervene on his father’s behalf when it comes to certain engagements.”
A day later, the Prince of Wales attended a charity dinner and told those present, both his father and his wife:
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your kind messages of support.”
Kate’s photo door
Concern came to a head on March 10, when a falsified photo of Kate appeared on Wales’ official Instagram page to celebrate Mother’s Day in the UK.
In a press release published the following day, Kate admitted the photo was fake.
But neither she nor the royal family have given a reason as to why such a ruse was necessary.
And the days that followed only made us worry more.
The mystery deepens
Prince William continued to make public appearances without Kate by his side, and despite this glaring absence, the royal family has yet to offer any new information on Kate’s condition.
On social media, the most common theories all concern Kate’s health.
But many believe there could be a different explanation for the Princess of Wales’ sudden reluctance to appear in public – one that would not be good for William.
Rumors about Rose Hanbury resurface
In 2019, it was rumored that William had had an affair with Lady Rose Hanburya noblewoman who lives near the Welsh country home in Norfolk, England.
Some have even gone so far as to suggest that William could be the father of Rose’s youngest daughter.
There is no convincing evidence to support this theory, but many royal watchers are convinced that Kate bid farewell to royal life because she is furious over William’s infidelity.
Again, this is pretty exaggerated, but it’s not hard to see why so many people are willing to believe such crazy rumors right now.
After all, it’s not every day that a member of the royal family disappears for almost three months without explanation.
The royals are likely aware that speculation will continue until they offer concrete information about Kate.
But despite this, they maintain control over the situation – and frankly, that worries us.
