Ian Ziering spoke out after being involved in a fight with several bikers on New Year’s Eve in Los Angeles.
“Yesterday I experienced an alarming incident involving a group of individuals on mini-motorbikes,” said the Beverly Hills, 90210 former student, 59, wrote via Instagram Monday January 1st. “While stuck in traffic, my car was aggressively approached by one of these motorcyclists, resulting in a disturbing confrontation. To try to assess the damage, I got out of my car. Unfortunately, this action escalated into a physical altercation, which I lived through to protect myself.
A video of the incident, obtained by TMZ, showed Ziering during an altercation with several people who were riding motorized minimotos on Hollywood Boulevard on Sunday, December 31. He said his daughter Mia, 12, was in the car with him at the time, but they were both unhurt. (Ziering shares Mia and daughter Penna, 10, with his ex-wife Erin Ludwig.)
“I am relieved to report that my daughter and I are completely unharmed, but the incident has left me deeply concerned about the growing audacity of such groups disrupting public safety and peace,” Ziering said in his message. .
He continued: “This situation highlights a wider problem of hooliganism on our streets and the need for effective law enforcement responses to such behavior. As a citizen and parent, I find it unacceptable that groups can freely engage in this kind of behavior, causing fear and chaos, while the response from the authorities seems insufficient.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed KTLA On Sunday, they received reports that a fight had broken out after bikers were seen driving recklessly in the area. Officers responded to the area of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue around 3 p.m. PT, although Ziering and the bikers fled the scene after the fight. An official police report was filed, in which Ziering is named as the victim. No arrests have been made and an investigation is still ongoing, according to TMZ.
Ziering said he wanted to see “decisive action” from authorities after the incident.
“I have always been an advocate against bullying and misconduct, and this incident reinforces my belief in the importance of personal and community safety,” he added. “We must tackle the underlying issues that lead to such disruptive behavior and ensure our streets are safe for everyone.
