The delay, great Georges Carlin has a new comedy special — thanks to the use of AI technology… but one person who’s up in arms about it is his daughter, Kelly.
The producer/writer shared her thoughts on this new AI special, “George Carlin: I’m Glad I’m Dead,” that’s making the rounds right now… in which a fake George Carlin – recreated thanks to an AI program – – launched new jokes… in the vein of the real McCoy.
It sure looks like GC, and the presentation is also the same – as are the topics he famously covered – like religion and new material on Elon Muskstreaming and much more.
Kelly responded, laying it all out in a statement, saying: “My father spent his life perfecting his craft from his very human life, his brain and his imagination. No machine will ever replace his genius.”
She says artificial intelligence products are “clever attempts to try to recreate a mind that will never exist again” – adding that the whole thing “has crossed the line”.
Kelly urges people to let the artist’s work speak for itself…reminding fans that the real George Carlin has 14 specials available everywhere – if you want to listen to the actual material.
This strange stand-up set was produced as part of the Dudesy podcast, hosted by Will Sasso And Chad Kultgen — and people online have sided with Kelly, thinking the whole thing is just weird.
And we will say… even if AI gets closer to reality, it will never surpass the perfection that George has put on stage for decades. Kelly is right: it’s close, but no cigar.
Strange times, really strange.
