Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is calling for reparations to reduce violent crime. Is he suggesting that only black people commit violent crimes? It’s a good thing he’s not a Republican or some people might say he was racist for saying that.
This raises other obvious questions. Is Brandon suggesting we should pay criminals not to commit crimes? None of this makes any sense.
Furthermore, isn’t the city going bankrupt because of the influx of illegal border crossers. Johnson just tapped millions in COVID funds to solve this problem.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson calls for reparations funding to reduce violent crime
Democratic Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson insisted to CNN that funding for reparations in his new budget would help address the root cause of the city’s record violent crime epidemic.
Speaking to network anchor Poppy Harlow on “CNN This Morning” Wednesday, Johnson acknowledged Chicago’s high crime rate and said “the full force of government” is needed to solve it, including the city by investing $500,000 in reparations programs.
Harlow pushed his response by citing Chicago Police Department statistics revealing that while “the murder rate is down compared to 2022,” “all other forms of violent crime, Mr. Mayor, are up compared to a year ago, an overall increase of 17%. »…
He then spoke about the misuse of city funds to provide reparations to the African American community. “I added half a million dollars for restoration and repairs to address, once again, the cycle of violence, which looks like school and mental health facility closures, in which I invested now. We will open two mental health clinics that were closed two previous administrations ago.

Johnson’s focus is in the wrong places. It’s amazing that Chicago managed to elect someone even worse than Lori Lightfoot.
