When I started Wit & Delight at twenty-four, the world as we know it today was very different. For a little context, the iPhone had just been released, the economy was in freefall, Obama had just been elected president, and I was broke, insecure, and scared. Despite the difficulty of this time, I was incredibly optimistic about the future and eager to share everything I had within me with the world.
Wit & Delight was The place where I grew up. I wrote about what scared me, delighted me, inspired me, and made me feel at home. This website has supported me while I fell apart, got married, blew up my life, went to therapy, struggled with mental health issues, gave birth, created product lines, and worked with top brands and people we could hope for. .
A season of change
It’s hard to imagine ending something that was ultimately about creating things for a community of people who shared a common thread: the beauty and joy of being alive. You are my people and I loved this time with you.
I’ve felt the subtle call to step away from publishing for some time. This terrifies me if I’m honest. I’m not sure what I’ll do next. I realize that it’s okay not to understand everything. So I’m taking a step similar to the one I took when I published my first blog post, launching optimistically into the unknown.
Although I will continue to appear on social media and share essays and project updates on Home visitRunning Wit & Delight full-time is something I know I need to step away from.
In short, you will still see me, but a little less often.
The team that built Wit & Delight
Because I’ve decided to step away from publishing content full-time, that means the team that creates all the amazing content for Wit & Delight will also be leaving. I am devastated to lose the people who dedicated so much time, creativity and passion to making this space what it is today.
Simply put, Wit & Delight wouldn’t be the same without the team that built it. I could not have continued to produce the amount of content we have with the quality we are committed to without this team. Period. My gratitude and appreciation to those who believed in the brand, in me and in the value of what we do, cannot be fully expressed. Although I will be stepping down from running this brand full-time, my team is ready to move on to bigger things.
If you’re looking for rockstar people who know editorial strategy, content creation, or project management, I’d love for you to connect with my team members. They know this job better than anyone. I look forward to seeing them move on to much bigger and better things soon.
Bridgette Dutkowski
Bridgette has been with me for eight years as my brand director. She does everything and makes it look easy (spoiler, it wasn’t). There is no project or problem that she cannot solve and I am fortunate to have been able to work alongside her. I wouldn’t be here writing this article without his brilliant mind and ability to carve out clear, actionable paths out of my creative chaos and often half-baked ideas. She knows influencer marketing inside and out. You can contact her by email at bkdutkowski@gmail.com or send him a message on LinkedIn.
Jackie Saffert
Jackie has been with me for four years as editorial director. I am grateful for his unwavering guidance, intuition, and careful approach to editing. His editorial strategy and gift for storytelling are woven into everything we publish on Wit & Delight. I am a better writer and storyteller working alongside him. Learn more about Jackie’s expertise and background website. You can contact her by email at jackiejsaffert@gmail.com or send him a message on LinkedIn.
Greta Philippe
Greta has managed our social media accounts for three years. She takes the pulse of real-time changes in social media. She has been our Swiss army knife for balancing the art of creativity and strategy around all of our social content. Not only has it been a sounding board for navigating a changing landscape, but it’s also as reliable as it gets. Greta hopes to find another position in the social media space as a social media manager or social media strategist. She is available to work remotely in the United States and Canada, or to work in-person in Toronto, Ontario. You can contact her by email at gretaaaphilip@gmail.com or send him a message on LinkedIn.
Nancy Lausch
Nancy has been my executive assistant for three years. She was the glue that held me together and an incredible coach. She has an intuitive sense of knowing what needs to be done before we realize it. It’s often the things we don’t see that have the most impact, and I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn invaluable lessons while working with her. As Nancy transitions from her role at W&D, her goal is to expand her life coaching business with other individual clients, as well as team and small business coaching. She has previously worked as an interior design and styling consultant and hopes to continue as a personal assistant in an entrepreneurial capacity. You can contact her by email at blueskieslifecoach@gmail.com or send him a message on LinkedIn.
Carolyn Monke
Carolyn has been our designer for three years. While also working for other brands and clients, she managed Wit & Delight’s graphic design needs, adding her own touch and creativity to our branded content, themed graphics and social look and feel. I can always count on Carolyn to add value to our creative ideas. She is a quick study and adapted to all the design challenges we faced. You can contact her by email at carolynmonke@gmail.com or send him a message on LinkedIn.
What’s next and where you can continue to follow me
We will continue to regularly publish content on Wit & Delight until the end of June. I’m going to dig through the archives and highlight some of the articles that have been most meaningful to me – and to you, the Wit & Delight community – over the past fourteen years.
We’ll be posting a few sponsored posts that I can’t wait to share, in June and throughout the summer. I will also sporadically share the design updates we are making to our home. The website will remain online this summer and beyond. I may pop in from time to time to share additional updates.
I will continue to publish my newsletter, Home visit, at a regular pace. Please follow here for testing and design project updates. I will also continue to appear on Instagram whenever the mood permits.
The Wit & Delight product lines will continue to be sold through our current resellers. We will continue to share updates, new product offerings and collaborations on Wit & Delight and our social channels.
If you would like to contact me in the future, my email will be the best place to reach me: kate@witanddelight.com.
Thank you for being with me during such a transformative time.
I’ll see you soon.
